In town for the second edition of the Rajiv Gandhi International Under-19 T-20 Cricket Championship-2015, they are here at the invitation of Cricket Federation of India (CFI), whose chairman is Congress Rajya Sabha member, V Hanumanth Rao. In addition to India and Pakistan, the other two teams participating in the championship include UAE and a CFI outfit.

Although a sense of sporting oneness pervaded the stadium, the spotlight was on the VVIPs who turned up for the occasion. Giving the event a colourful start were Hanumanth Rao and senior Congress leader, Digvijay Singh, who later was busy brain-storming the local Congress leaders on ways and means to revive the party’s fortunes in the State.

There was a welcome scene when Digvijay Singh took guard and Hanumanth bowled to him to formally the mark the inauguration of the championship that concludes on Friday. Telangana Congress leaders P Laxmaiah and D Nagender were enjoying the run of events as did the Organising Secretary, S Srikanth Goud and several other Congress men and the spectators.
