Docs clean roads on R Day

Apollo Hospitals commemorated the Republic Day by hosting the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in Jubilee Hills. Sangita Reddy, joint managing director, Apollo Hospitals Group, launched the campaign and led senior doctors and employees for the cleanliness drive.

Prominent specialists including Dr Vijay Anand Reddy and Dr Ravi Andrews, armed with broomsticks, shovels, waste collection bags, fanned out and went about cleaning the garbage and debris on the neighborhood street. Pavements were painted, protrusions obstructing pedestrians were removed, electric transformers were fenced, area around waste bins were washed and unnecessary cable wires hanging from electrical poles were removed with the help of Discom workers.

Speaking on the occasion, Sangita Reddy said, “Hospitals are epitomes of hygiene. Through this campaign we are extending the concept of healthy living to our neighborhood by educating and involving our staff and the community. For a hospital its immediate environs being clean is essential too.” She exhorted the staff to make cleanliness a habit and espouse the cause of cleanliness amongst their families, friends and neighbours to make India clean.
