Republic Day celebrations at the Arts College in Osmania University on Monday was marred by protests which followed immediately. Loud chants of “Go Back Obama” rented the air as the youth wing of CPI and CPI (M) protested against the nuclear deal signed by the centre on Sunday.

Heading to the nationwide strike called by the Left parties, party members protested near the United States Consulate couple of days ago. “The outcry continued as we are angry over the u-turn by the BJP government,” said Anand, a member of CPI. The students entered into a heated argument with the cops as they wanted to hold placards and burn effigies. However the police refused permission and kept the situation under control.
