He directed concerned officers to expedite land acquisition and reviewed the status of 219 private properties and 85 Government Vested Municipal (GVM) properties in the three Metro corridors.

The weekly Special Task Force (STF) meeting of the prestigious Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) was held on Tuesday by Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma. He directed concerned officers to expedite land acquisition and reviewed the status of 219 private properties and 85 Government Vested Municipal (GVM) properties in the three Metro corridors. He instructed GHMC Commissioner, Collectors of Hyderabad and RR districts to complete acquisition and take possession of all the properties by mid March.

With the railways waiving off the traffic block charges, Rajiv directed HMR to take up the handing over of affected railway properties. Presenting the status of Metro Rail work, NVS Reddy, MD, HMR, said that till date 1,730 foundations (45 km), 1,640 pillars (43 km) and 34 km of viaduct have been completed.

Discussions on the completion of ground level works such as improving the carriage way, sidewalks and junctions on the Nagole-Mettuguda stretch figured in the meeting. While reviewing the security plan for Metro Rail depots and stations, Rajiv instructed to explore the feasibility of entrusting a part of the responsibility to the State Special Protection Force (SPF) of Telangana. He also advised Home Secretary to convene a meeting with all the stakeholders and come up with a detailed proposal by the next STF.
