The ongoing Thyagaraja Aaradhanotsavalu organised by Sri Rama Gna Sabha at Sri Ramalyam saw upcoming musicians, who enthralled audience with their Akhanda Nama Sankeethana Yagna, recently. As many as 30 young musicians took part in the yagna, which also saw short duration concerts from famed musicians much to the delight of the audience.

Komanduri trio’s violin recital
It was a joy to behold when three generations perform together; such were the scenes at Sri Ramlayam, where Komanduri Seshadri, his son Ananta Souri Rajan and grandson Jayaram giving a stirring violin concert. They opened the concert with a Bhairavi varnam, followed by “Sobhillu Saptaswara” (Jaganmohini), “Endaro Mahanubhavulu” (Sri), “Apparam Bhakthi’ (Panthuvarali). Young Jayaram gave a good display on the violin showing promising future while Komanduri and Rajan proven their mastery on the strings. K Syamkumar accompanied the trio on mridangam.
DV Mohan Krishna’s melodious vocals
DV Mohan Krishna, the senior most disciple of Dr Balamuralikrishna, started his recital with ‘Sadhincheney Oh! Manasa (Arabhi) followed by an alluring “Sogasu Chooda Taramaa” (Kannadagoula), which was well delineated. He then moved on to a rare krithi “Muddu Momu” (Suryakantham). “Samajavaragamana” (Hindola) and “Bagaaye Nayya” (Chandrajyothi) are the other numbers, which were lucidly presented. It was in “Srungaarinchukoni”, (Surati) Nouka Charitha krithi, DV received thunderous applause from the audience.
The vivid commentary by Konki Sathyanarayana Rao made it even more alluring. In short the concert was an alluring one. Senior violinist Mangalampalli Surya Deepthi and mridanga vidwan Nemani Somayajulu gave a seasoned display as the accompanying instrumental musicians.
Soulful vocal rendition by Vijayakumar
Mumbai-based ND Vijaya Kumar opened his concert with “Abhogi” Varnam. Then he moved on to “Tulaseedalamulachey” (Mayamalavagoula) and presented it with good ragaalapana. It was followed by “Nannu Vidachi Kadalakuraa” (Reethigoula) of Prahlada Bhakthi Vijayam and rendered it emotively. “Nidhi Chala Sukhamaa” (Kalyani) and “Srikrishna Bhajeham” (Todi) were next on the menu and were presented with good swarakalpana. He concluded the concert with “Jaya Jaya Padmanabha”, a Manirangu raga krithi of Swathi Thirunal. Anantha Souri Rajan on violin and P Srinivasa Gopalan on mridangam gave good instrumental support.
