Being the daughter of world renowned Kuchipudi dancers Dr Raja Reddy and Dr Radha Reddy, Bhavana Reddy inherited her parents’ skills and became a child prodigy in Kuchipudi at the age of seven. Hyderabad had the honour of hosting Bhavana Reddy, and no, it was not for a display of her dance.

The city had hosted a performance by Bhavana and her band to introduce to Hyderabad her EP (Extended Play) ‘Tangled in Emotions’, with four of her songs at Hard Rock Café on Wednesday. The artist had come to Hyderabad after touring different cities like Bengaluru and Delhi. The singer songwriter had set the stage on fire with her original compositions and a few compositions with two of her other friends from the band.

She had owned the stage in a way that got the crowd grooving to her music. Her originals are one completely different from what you would hear usually by a rock or a pop artist. She had experimented not just with the melody but with its beat patterns that changed at regular intervals.

Bhavana had the opportunity of doing her schooling for music in Hollywood. That was where she met a few friends who helped her out with some compositions. She had played a set of 15 songs which had a few of her originals and a few of which was composed with her friends. She also rendered a cover of superstition which was originally by Stevie wonders recorded for Motown Records in 1972.

After the performance, Bhavana was all pumped up for her next performance on tour in Bombay. “This was one of the best crowds we have experienced on our tour. I really like how people accepted my music here in Hyderabad. There were fans here who followed me on YouTube and a few people who just happened to be here and enjoyed my music. It was quite the gig here at Hyderabad,” said Bhavana. Among the crowd was her sister Yamini Reddy who cheered her all through the performance.
