Amusement park brand Wonderla Holidays’ Rs 210 crore worth venture in the city is expected to be operational from next year. The brand’s managing director Arun K Chittilappilly expects a footfall of seven lakh in the year of its launch. “The estimated seven lakh footfall is based on the footfall received by the park at Bengaluru.

If we achieve the seven lakh mark in our first year, at an average realisation close to what Bengaluru’s park is going to charge in that year, which is close to Rs 750, we will have a topline of roughly Rs 60 crore and Rs 65 crore. If we have a Rs 65 crore topline from the city in our first year, we will have an operating margin of roughly 30 per cent,” said Arun K Chittilappilly.

“At the Profit After Tax (PAT) level in the first year, the city will show a loss because of the high depreciation cost. However, from an operating margin standpoint we will have a 30-35 per cent operating margin in the first year itself and it will be operationally profitable. We hope that the project will turn PAT positive from the third year onwards,” Chittilappilly added.

Briefing about the ticket prices, Arun said, “We don’t tinker with the ticket pricing during the year. All our ticket price hikes usually happen from April 1 onwards. So the hikes will be effective from April 1. However, having said that, our ticket prices for Q4 will be about 10-12 per cent higher than what we did in the last year. So, we are maintaining 15-20 per cent growth in our topline for the quarter.”
