The Foundation for Children in need, a not-for-profit organisation, is organising free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries in collaboration with Smile Network International, Minneapolis, USA, and Santhiram Medical College and General Hospital, Kurnool, till Saturday.

The Foundation for Children in need, a not-for-profit organisation, is organising free cleft lip and cleft palate surgeries in collaboration with Smile Network International, Minneapolis, USA, and Santhiram Medical College and General Hospital, Kurnool, till Saturday. A team of 19 medical personnel and volunteers headed by Dr Lester Mohler and Dr Uldis Bite, head of Mayo Clinic are conducting the surgeries.

The surgeries are being performed at Santhiram Medical College and General Hospital, Nandyal. The foundation is coordinating and providing travel expenses to the children and their families to ensure that money may not hinder them from availing this opportunity

A reception and welcome for the Smile Network Team from the USA was held at the Marigold hotel recently. The chief guest for the event was consul general of the US Michael Mullins, who appreciated the work of FCN and Smile Network. He congratulated everyone involved for the dedicated work for the poor.

The guest of honour was deputy chairman of AP Legislative Council SV Sathish Kumar Reddy who is also supporting the programme. He thanked the efforts of Dr Geetha and Thomas Reddy Chitta, co-founders of Foundation for Children in Need for organising the surgeries. The foundation aims to make 60 children smile by the end of the programme. The foundation organised a reception and welcome for Smile Network Medical Team from USA at Marigold Hotel this morning.
