Govt to issue permits to 8,000 plus new autos

In a move to increase the number of autorickshaws in the capital, the government will issue 8,728 new autoriskshaws. A decision to this effect was taken on Tuesday and the guidelines have been issued. At present there are about 1.5 lakh autos plying in the GHMC limits. The department has set a range of permit conditions and GO 90 would be followed.

An applicant needs to be a resident of GHMC area and one can purchase a new auto anywhere in Telangana and would be non transferable up to three years. A committee comprising joint transport commissioners, an officer from commercial tax dept and a representative from manufacturer dealer would decide on invoice price of auto in seven days.
