The Secunderabad Containment Board is all set to go on an overdrive to collect property tax from March 1. The authorities claimed that defaulters have been given enough time to cough up their dues in the form of notices and have also been intimated through public broadcasting systems like mobile autos across all the eight wards of the cantonment.

The authorities claimed that defaulters have been given enough time to cough up their dues in the form of notices and have also been intimated through public broadcasting systems like mobile autos across all the eight wards of the cantonment.

Syed Akbar Ali, tax superintendent, said, “Last year, we recovered Rs 17 crore which was a record. This year our target in Rs 26 crore. We have already recovered Rs 19 crore and special squads have been formed consisting two superintendents, two tax inspectors, six tax collectors and additional staff of 50 members. These personnel will reach out to the defaulters and aim to achieve the target before March 31.

We are hopeful of recovering at least Rs 15 to 20 lakh per day.” “We will issue final red notices by the end of February and appeal to the residents to pay their dues on time and avoid punitive action. The tax payers who have applied for reassessment and re-calculations may approach the tax department authorities on any working day an can lodge a complaint on the toll free helpdesk number 040-21112111,” he added.
