Hyderabad has emerged as the city with the best quality of living, leaving behind the likes of Pune, Bengaluru, Mumbai and even the nation’s capital New Delhi! In a report released by Mercer, an American human resource and consulting firm on Wednesday, the city was ranked 138th globally, while Pune ranked 145, Bengaluru 146, Chennai 151, Mumbai 152, New Delhi 154 and Kolkata bagged the 160th position. The top position went to Vienna, Austria, for the second time. Zurich and Switzerland joint by Auckland bagged the second and third positions.

The survey highlights that Indian cities haven’t made much progress on the quality of living scale, scoring nearly the same as they did last year. However, over time, Hyderabad has emerged as a city of choice due to factors such as improved options for international schools and a fine choice of reputable English speaking schools. Also, the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is located 22 km from the city and offers a good range of international flights, which improves its ranking on account of public services.
