Spiritual leader Mata Amritanandamayi Devi will visit the city on March 15 and 16. She has undertaken a ‘Bharat Yatra’ to reach out to the poor. On her tour, which begins from North Kerala, she will traverse through Mysuru, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, besides the city. Her tour will conclude on April 4 at New Delhi, where she will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On her tour, which begins from North Kerala, she will traverse through Mysuru, Bengaluru, Pune, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, besides the city. Her tour will conclude on April 4 at New Delhi, where she will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During her stay in the city at the Mata Amritanandamayi Math, Mahendra Hills, Amritanandamayi will distribute scholarships to 1,000 students and will provide aid to 500 widows and destitutes through a pension scheme ‘Amrita Nidhi’. A souvenir, Amritaarpanam – 2015, will be released on Sunday.

Mata will travel by road with a group of 600 disciples, and will hold satsangs, bhajans and serve food to the villagers on the way. The leader has initiated a programme, 'The Amrita SeRVe' (Self Reliant Villages), to promote rural development. She will be adopting Kodur in Medak district and Gudipaticheruvu in Guntur district. Volunteers will provide the women of the villages with basic education, vocational training and address healthcare needs. Free training will be provided at tailor training centres. Tuitions will be conducted for school kids and Eamcet coaching will also be provided.
