Hyderabad: Telangana TDP lashed at TRS government over the delay in the completion of irrigation projects. The party said KCR lacked foresight in projects. The party adopted resolution on Irrigation demanding justice to all the displaced people at project sites.

The party held Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao responsible for the present crisis in the irrigation sector. Moving a resolution on Irrigation at the Telanagana Mahanadu in Hyderabad on Wednesday, party senior leader R Prakash Reddy alleged that the T government failed to construct the irrigation projects in time bound manner and to address the issues of the displaced persons at the project sites.

Reddy said the government brought into force GO 123 and rendered injustice to farmers who lost their lands due to project s. It was brought to light only when High Court struck down the order. With no other option left, KCR government amended the Central Land Acquisition act and adopted it. He is not sure whether farmers will get their due share as part of Rehabilitation and Resettlement policy.

The TDP leader also pointed out that the redesigned and re-engineered projects would not resolve inequality in water distribution among the backward districts. He alleged that the projects were redesigned only to benefit the contractors.

The opposition party resolved to stand by the displaced persons who failed to get adequate compensation. It would fight against the government for the release of funds earmarked to each project in time.
