Sydney: Thousands of users online have slammed tourists and locals for taking selfies during the Sydney hostage crisis at Martin place.

Hundreds turned to Instagram and other photo-sharing social networks to announce that they were present near the popular Lindt chocolate cafe, in which at least a dozen customers were taken hostage by a lone gunman identified as Man Haron Monis.
The situation had a bloody ending with the deaths of three people, including the gunman.
“Awful, do they not have any feelings. People are being held hostage and all they can do is take a selfie," wrote one user.
