Angry women burn heaps of Bathukamma sarees in Nalgonda
Venting their ire against the poor quality of Bathukamma sarees distributed to them here on Monday, women piled up the sarees in a heap and set them on fire. They played Bathukamma dancing around the fire as a mark their protest.

Following the directions of the government, officials launched the distribution of saris in the erstwhile Nalgonda district.
Women in Thipparthi mandal who received sarees from the officials got angry and questioned them as to why such inferior variety of sarees were distributed.
Similar scenes were witnessed at Vasavinagar in Nakrekal, Padmanagar in Nalgonda town, 22nd and 23rd municipal wards in Bhongir town, on National highway in Aler of Yadadri district.
A few women in Nalgonda openly accused the State government of insulting them by distributing cheap sarees which were not even worth Rs 50.
