Wanaparthy: The open place behind the Wanaparthy Fort, once known as King’s Ground, has now turned into an open dump yard causing grave health hazards to public. At present, the Wanaparthy Fort is housing the Collectorate and the open place is just behind the Fort.

Moreover, the open dump yard is just a furlong away from the Rajiv Chowk, the centre of the city where every day political leaders and officials conduct various programmes. “Everyone knows that the open place was once famous as King’s Ground.

But now, it has turned into a dumping yard with sounders of pigs making it as their home. The entire area is stinking as all the litter of the city is being dumped here. It has become a breeding ground for mosquitoes,” complained a resident of the area.

The public and residents of the areas are demanding the officials of the Wanaparthy municipality to act early before things go beyond control.

Even though the State and Central governments are promoting Swachh Bharat and cleanliness drives, it is failing to yield on the ground. People fear that if urgent attention was not given to clean this area, it may become the source of spreading deadly diseases like dengue, malaria and cholera.
