Khammam: Demanding the government to withdraw the decision of shutting down of ration shops, the representatives of Communist Party of India (CPM) had burnt an effigy of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao here in Khammam on Wednesday. Speaking on the occasion, the CPM leaders said that instead of fulfilling the poll promises, the government was trying to dissolve the existing schemes beneficial to downtrodden.

The 6-kg free rice per person in the family was an election promise. The government had already stopped the supply of all essential 16 commodities to the card holders except rice, he pointed. If the government does not withdraw the decision of shutting of ration shops, severe protests would be taken up to teach the government a fitting lesson, he warned.
