Officials asked to ensure sand supply for 2BHKs, ISLs

Khammam: District Collector DS Lokesh Kumar directed the officials of Revenue, Police and Panchayat Raj departments to work in tandem and see to it that problem of sand deficit for the construction of double bedroom houses and Individual Sanitary Latrines (ISLs) does not arise.

The Collector along with Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal chaired a review meeting with Mandal Parishad Development Officers, Tahsildars and officials of Police department to discuss the progress of construction works of 2BHK houses and ISLs, in Khammam on Thursday. Speaking at the meeting, the Collector ordered the officials to take necessary steps to stop the illegal supply of sand and ensure adequate supply of sand for construction 2BHK houses and ISLs.

“The two projects that are taken up prestigiously by the State government must be completed successfully with the coordination of mandal-level officers. Mention the date, time, vehicle number, name of the place from where the sand is supplied along with the signature of the Tahsildars regarding the sand that is supplied to the two projects,” suggested the Collector.

He added that the Tahsildars, MPDOs and Station House Officers must design an interlinking mechanism to prevent illegal transport of the sand. Adding that the officials of the Police department must inspect thoroughly sand carrying vehicles, the Collector said sand transported illegally must be seized and should be diverted for the construction of 2BHK houses and Individual Sanitary Latrines. Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police informed the Collector that all necessary steps were taken to prevent the illegal transport of sand by deploying specials task force teams along with police officials.

Joint Collector T Vinay Krishna Reddy, Trainee Collector Hanmanthu Kodimba, Zilla Parishad Chief Executive Officer Marapaka Nagesh, Revenue Divisional Officer Purnachandra, Assistant Commissioners of Police P V Ganesh, K Suresh Kumar and Rajesh, District Panchayat Raj Officer Srinivas Reddy, Tahsildars, MPDOs and Station House officials attended the meeting.
