Nalgonda CPM seeks MSP for cotton, paddy
The CPM state leader, Julakanti Rangareddy, demanded the government to pay a Minimum Support Price of Rs 8,000 for cotton and Rs 3,000 for paddy. On Monday, he addressed the farmers dharna conducted under the aegis of Rythu Sangam on the premises of the Nalgonda Collectorate.
Nalgonda: The CPM state leader, Julakanti Rangareddy, demanded the government to pay a Minimum Support Price of Rs 8,000 for cotton and Rs 3,000 for paddy. On Monday, he addressed the farmers dharna conducted under the aegis of Rythu Sangam on the premises of the Nalgonda Collectorate.
He demanded the government to open cotton and paddy purchasing centres across the district and make immediate payments to farmers either through online or through cheques. The CPM leaders alleged that taking the advantage of sudden closure of purchasing centres, middlemen were robbing the innocent farmers.
Stating that millers and commission agents were paying meagre amounts to farmers, Julakanti urged the government to address the farmers issues through proper supervision by respective officials. Several party leaders took part in the protest programme.
