Mahabubnagar: If everything goes as per plan, the District Administration is planning to convert the present Collector building into a Maternity Hospital and shift the Collectorate to Palakonda, where a new integrated Collectorate is expected to be built very soon.

As the State government had already directed the District Administration to finalise a suitable place for the construction of new Collectorates in every district, the officials after examining different places have zeroed in at Palakonda for the construction of the new integrated Collectorate for Mahbubnagar district.

“Very soon a new integrated Collector building spread over an area of 1.60 lakh square feet will be constructed at Palakonda areas on the outskirts of Mahbubnagar. This region is well connected with road and has all the necessary facilities to host the integrated collector building, where people can access all the Departments at one place without having to from one place to the other,” said C Laxma Reddy.

While inspecting the premises of Mahbubnagar Collectorate on Friday, C Laxma Reddy, Minister for Health and Family Welfare said the present Collectorate is not sufficient to hold more than 65 government Departments. At present only 18 Departments are housed in the present Collectorate while remaining 47 Departments are located in different parts of the district in rented and government buildings causing inconvenience to the public.

“The present collector building is spread across 69,216 square feet and it is not sufficient to accommodate all the government Departments. Moreover, as the building has already reached dilapidated condition it will be renovated and will be converted into a 100 bedded Maternity Hospital similar to that of Nilopher hospital in Hyderabad,” said the Minister.
