Khammam: Communist Party of India (CPI) city unit secretary S K Jani Miya on Thursday contradicted the claim by the TRS leaders that huge amount of money was being invested for the development of the city. He stated that there was no development of the city at all.

The CPI held a meeting at Giriprasad Bhavan under the leadership of the Anugu Gandhi here to discuss the future course of action. Speaking at the meeting, Jani Miya said the TRS council in the Municipal Corporation had failed to address the problems being faced by the people. He alleged that some corporators, belonging to the ruling party, had taken up contract works in some division under benami transactions, he alleged. The works being executed were devoid of quality, he alleged.

Some corporators, he alleged, had resorted to encroachment of government lands and threatening the common people with dire consequences. The works on widening of the main road from ZP centre to to Sri Ramahills had not been carried out properly, he said.

He demanded that an inquiry be ordered into development works executed in all the division and the guilty be punished. CPI leaders B G Climont, Mohammad Salaam, Mekala Srinivas Rao, Yanali Sambashiva Reddy, Chamakuri Venkanna, S K Saida, Madugula Nageshwar Rao were present at the meeting.
