Mounting debts push woman, son to suicide

In a tragic incident, a 58-year-old mother and her 33-year-old other son committed suicide due to mounting debts. The incident took place at Velmakanne village of Munugodu mandal on Monday. The deceased were identified as Sukka Maremma and her son Sukka Yadaiah.

Nalgonda: In a tragic incident, a 58-year-old mother and her 33-year-old other son committed suicide due to mounting debts. The incident took place at Velmakanne village of Munugodu mandal on Monday. The deceased were identified as Sukka Maremma and her son Sukka Yadaiah.

According to Munugodu SI Ramulu, Yadaiah had four acres of land and cultivated cotton by leanding money from others. However, he could not get returns as the crops yield was very less. Further, Yadaiah’s wife Indira has been suffering from a chronic disease and expenditure incurred for her treatment pushed them to financial crisis.

As the pressure from the money lenders increased, the duo committed suicide at their home by consuming pesticide. Yadaiah is survived by wife and two kids.

Police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to district government hospital for postmortem. Further probe is underway.
