Mahbubnagar: After completing the major works relating to Mission Bhagiratha in Mahbubnagar district, MLA Srinivas Goud on Friday launched the works of laying pipeline in the colonies to provide potable water to each and every household.
Major works like construction of water treatment plants, overhead tanks and laying of main water pipelines were completed. To being with Srinivas Goud launched the operation laying of water pipelines in 4th street of Pochamma Colony, ward number 12 in B N Reddy Nagar and in ward number 14 in Shivashakti Nagar areas of Mahbubnagar town.
As already the Krishna river water has reached Mahbubnagar district, the newly formed colonies in the district are not having the underground pipeline to supply drinking water on a regular basis. In view of this the MLA has directed the municipal authorities to lay water pipelines across all those colonies on war-footing and provide drinking water to all the households in the colonies.
“The State government has set a target of providing potable water to each and every household as early as possible by end of March. At any cost the government is determined to complete all the pending works by June end people will get water through the taps at their homes. We have directed the municipal authorities, the engineers and the contractors to ensure that the works are completed on schedule,” said Srinivas Goud.
The MLA said the people of the district, particularly the womenfolk used to walk long distances to fetch a pot of water. Even in the municipalities water used to be released once in every 15 days. But with the completion of Mission Bhagiratha situation has totally changed and people can get fresh drinking water through their taps, observed the MLA.
The MLA said that the government has taken up the construction of Mission Bhagiratha project as a challenge and in just a span of two years more than 100 kilometres of pipelines has been erected to get Srisailam water to Mahbubnagar district.
“The Srisailam water has already reached Mahbubnagar district. Only thing we need to complete the internal pipeline construction in the colonies. Once this is done, there will not be any water problem for Mahabubnagar people,” said the MLA.
The MLA cautioned the CC road contractors to ensure that there no damage to the water pipelines during the laying of the roads. He said if there is any damage to any pipeline, then the contractor would lose his license. The MLA criticised the previous government for not ignoring the sufferings of the people.
All credit should go to KCR who is a visionary and thought of long-term projects like Mission Bhagirahta. “The Congress and leaders from other parties are envying the achievements of our government. If not praise our government for completing the works before time, I urge them at least not to criticise for the good work we are doing for the people,” said the MLA.
