He inaugurated Mission Bhagiratha project at Toggudem village on Monday and later addressed a meeting. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said Mission Bhagiratha, the dream project of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, will supply drinking water to 1,390 villages across the district.

The cost of the project was Rs 50 crores, he added. Drinking water will be supplied from Toggudem pump house in the agency area to the villages. He also inspected pump house and filter bed facility during his visit.

Khamma MP Ponuguleti Srinivas Reddy said that the government has been completing the projects one by one in the State. After completion of the major project - Sitarama Lift Irrigation Proejct - in the district, about 10 lakh acres will come under cultivation.

District Collector Rajiv Gandhi Hanumanthu said 3,090 villages will get potable water once the project was completed. Stating that the State government has been introducing several welfare schemes for the benefit of the public, TRICOR Chairman and Aswaraopeta MLA T Venkateshwarlu urged the people to utilise these schemes.

DCCB Chairman M Vijay Babu, ZPTC Vasudeva Rao, Rural Water Works engineers and others participated in the programme.
