Bring petrol, diesel under GST, demands CPM

In protest against the Central government for increasing the petrol and diesel prices, the representatives of the CPM party pulled the trolley auto with the help of a bull by tying it to the auto. Speaking on the occasion, N Nageshwar Rao alleged that demonetisation of high value currency notes and introducing GST have hit the middle-classes hard and the poor were suffering a lot.

He said that there was a drastic fall of crude oil prices in many countries. In Venezuela the price for one litre petrol was just 68 paise but in our country, the price was Rs.78 per one litre, he lamented.

The CPM leader said that the BJP government may hike the petrol and diesel prices to Rs.100 per litre in the near future. All the political parties which were in the Opposition and various people’s organisations must fight unitedly against the BJP led NDA government for adopting anti-peoples’ policies, he added.

The leaders of the CPM three town committee formed a human chain under the leadership of Thushakula Lingaiah here at Kalvaddu in the town in protest against the Central government for increasing the petrol and diesel prices here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Yerra Srikanth alleged that the BJP government hiked the prices of petrol to Rs.78.96 and diesel to Rs.71.56 which may also have a cascading effect on the other commodities. The government must decrease the prices of petrol and diesel and must bring them under GST, he demanded.

The CPM leaders P Venkateshwar Rao, Barri Venkat Kumar, Ganta Bheemaiah, Kukkala Gurumurthy and others were present on the occasion.
