Representatives of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) paid rich tributes to renowned actor and producer Madala Ranga Rao here on Monday by garlanding the photo of veteran actor, popularly known as ‘Red Star’ or ‘Erra Suryudu’. 

Khammam: Representatives of the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPM) paid rich tributes to renowned actor and producer Madala Ranga Rao here on Monday by garlanding the photo of veteran actor, popularly known as ‘Red Star’ or ‘Erra Suryudu’.

Speaking on the occasion, Praja Natya Mandali (PNM) district leader V Srinivas said Madala Ranga Rao was people’s star. Before entering into the cinema field, he jointed as a member in Praja Natya Mandali and played a key role in the growth of cultural organisation by bringing awareness among the people about various issues that prevailed in the society.

After launching Navatharam Pictures, he made several revolutionary films on class discrimination and social evils. Madala Ranga Rao was known as the torchbearer of revolutionary films in which he highlighted the plight of the poor and the downtrodden, he added.

Ranga Rao’s films brought to light social, political and economic problems in the society. He wanted to bring change in the society through his films. In fact, Ranga Rao took a great risk in producing such types of films and faced many problems in releasing them, he pointed out.

CPM leaders Yakaiah, M Sathyam, P Nagasulochana, Nageshwar Rao, S Veera Babu, M Srinivas, S K Qasim, V Nageshwar Rao, R Veerabhadram, V Madhu and M Nageshwar Rao were present.
