Nalgonda/ Suryapet/ Yadadri- Bhongir: Minister for Energy G. Jagadish Reddy here on Wednesday said the government’s flagship programme Kanti Velugu was launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Its objective was to ensure wellbeing of every citizen in the State, he said, The Minister was participating in the Independence Day celebrations at the Church compound in Suryapet. District Collector K Surendra Mohan and MP Badugula Lingaiah Yadav were also present. The Minister also launched Kanti Velugu programme.
Speaking on this occasion, Jagadish Reddy said the programme was aimed at conducting screening tests for 11,35,410 people in the district. As many as 26 teams were constituted to conduct the tests in the district. Surgeries too would be conducted free of charge, he said.
To provide quality treatment to the poor, the government has included corporate hospitals, besides government hospitals, for conducting surgeries. He said the people were spending huge money, between Rs 50 and 60 crore, for treatment of eye related ailments.
The state government has taken up Kanti Velugu as the poor people cannot afford to spend between Rs 1,200 and 1,500 for spectacles. Kanti Velgu would help the people in a big way, he added.
District Collector K Surendra Mohan called upon people to make the Kanti Velugu program a grand success. Medical teams would conduct eye tests for the people at respective camps arranged in villages and towns and provide spectacles to correct eye sights, he added.
Along Nakrekal MLA Vemula Veeresham, Jagadish Reddy launched the Kanti velugu programme in Nakrekal in Nalgonda district. State Rythu Samanvaya Samithi State president and Nalgonda MP Gutha Sukender Reddy along with TSFDC chairman Banda Narender Reddy launched the programme in Nalgonda town.
Meanwhile , In Yadadri – Bhongir District Collector Anitha Ramachandran , MPs Bhoora Narsaiah Goud , Badugula Lingaiah Yadav, Minister Jagadish Reddy launched Kanti Velugu programme in Choutuppal. Government Whip and Aler MLA Gongidi Sunitha launched the programme in Vangapally under Yadagirigutta mandal.
