Judge delivers verdict in Telugu

Khammam: District Additional Sessions Judge and fast track Court Judge C Kalyan Rao pronounced judgment related to a criminal case in Telugu here on Friday. He delivered the verdict in the murder case of a woman that occurred in Aswaraopet in Khammam district mandal in 2006. Speaking to the newsmen, the Judge said that he delivered the verdict t in Telugu following recent instructions from the State Government and AP High Court. "Preparing judgment copies in Telugu is a herculean task as there are very few Telugu books with legal terminology available. The initiative is aimed at helping the litigant public understand the judgment," he stated. District Judge PMM Siddharthi welcomed the move and said that Mr Kalyan Rao's initiative would encourage young lawyers, who are not proficient in English, to make arguments in Telugu and inspire other Judges to pronounce the judgments in the local language.
