Badrachalam division to be with Seemandhra

Hyderabad: The centre is working out on issues of merging the areas that would impinge on the construction of Polavaram project, in case of state bifurcation. According to the sources, the information regarding the same has been sought from the concerned state department. Of the 277 villages, which will be affected due to Polavaram project, 95% of the villages are on the left bank of Godavari River. Presently, all these areas are under Bhadrachalam division. So, if the centre's proposal works out, then the entire Bhadrachalam division will be merged with Seemandhra region.

It is evident that Polavaram project has already been given a national status. If the project has to be constructed, there should not be any objection from the people hailing from the affected areas. Hence, it is likely that Bhadrachalam division will be included in Seemandhra. As most of the villages that would be affected are of Telangana region, there has been a resistance from the Telangana leaders. The TJAC proposed for the cancellation of Polavaram project.
