rainVijayawada: Unseasonal rains left the normal life out of gear in Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam districts on Monday. People in Guntur and Ongole preferred to stay indoors because of heavy rains. In Krishna district, Gudivada town was the worst hit. Rains lashed the town for three days. With the unprecedented downpour on Monday, several main roads and colonies were submerged. The normal life of the people was thrown out of gear. Rain waters have flooded the houses situated in the low lying areas in the town. Roads have flooded heavily in the areas on Eluru Road, Gourishankarpuram, Rajendra Nagar, Srirampuram and Goodmanpeta making it tough to even pass through the place on foot. The cars and bikes parked in the underground cellar of the apartments were completely submerged. The vehicles can only be removed after the water is pumped out using motors. Even the residents of many apartments need to swim through the flooded cellar to come out where there is no alternative way available other than the stairs or lift. The effluents from open drainages and other sewage canals started flowing onto the roads. People are worried about the contagious diseases and other viral infections that may spread from those waste materials. With no much flow of customers, trade has been affected even though many shops remained open. The attendance rate has fallen in schools and colleges due to the unseasonal rains.
