rtiGudivada: State Information Commissioner L Tantiya Kumari said that RTI (Right to Information Act) was an ultimate weapon in the hands of people. Speaking to the media at the Zilla Parishat guest house here on Friday, she said that RTI helps improve transparency in administration. Tantiya Kumari said that details of developmental works taken up by government can be known within 30 days. If the information is not provided, the applicant can approach the Appellate officer. Even though the applicant fails to receive information within 60 days, he can approach the State Information Commissioner. She appealed to the people to utilise this Act for availing various Government services. She said that information about the personal assets and service matters of the officials would not be disclosed under this Act. She informed that RDOs were directed to make available publicity material about the RTI in the ongoing revenue meets across the State.
Pinnamaneni's birthday celebrated
Former Minister and KDCC Bank Chairman Pinnamaneni Venkateswara Rao's birth day was grandly celebrated at his camp office here on Friday. Town Congress president Puppalla Anjaneyulu cut a cake to mark the occasion. Speaking at the programme, Anajaenyulu said that Pinnamaneni family earned a good reputation in the district. He said that Venkateswara Rao has carved a niche for himself in district politics and became a role model for many leaders. They reminded his contribution to the development of Gudivada.
Officials warned against misuse of funds
Pedaparupudi: MGNREGA Additional Project Director J Suresh said that disciplinary action would be initiated against those officials indulged in misappropriation of funds under the programme. He verified the reports on the social audit held on the programme in various villages in the mandal at the MPDO office here on Friday. He said that penal action would be taken against staff for delay in the implementation of the programme.
