Vijayawada: The Aayush Hospitals conducted 'Aayush Live 2013', a workshop for the cardiologists and physicians from the coastal districts, here on Wednesday. The workshop covered Complex Coronary Angioplasty using IVUS (scanning of heart blood vessels), Fractional Flow Reserve (FFR) (measurement of pressure in heart blood vessels), Rotablation (using diamond tipped burr to treat calcified vessels) and implantation of most advanced 'Absorbable Stent' (bioresorbable Vascular Scaffold). Around 70 cardiologists and physicians participated in the workshop.

Dr Elvin Kedhi, Interventional Cardiologist from Rotterdam, Netherlands participated in the workshop. During the workshop, complex coronary angioplasties with implantation of scaffolds have been performed successfully and the importance of IVUS and FFR in angioplasty and methodology were discussed. Dr PS Srinivas Chowdary, Department of Cardiology, Aayush Hospitals said, "The absorb stent has been implanted in their hospitals last year for the first time. These stents get absorbed gradually over a period of two years and does not leave any residual metal in the body which is a revolution in the treatment of heart vessel blockages." This absorbable stent costs Rs 2.35 lakh plus taxes excluding the hospital charges. Dr K Gopala Krishna, Dr K Purnachandra Rao, Dr M Prasad from the Aayush Heart Centre were present at the workshop.
