Vijayawada : The G Kondur village of Krishna district, which was the hot bed on Sunday with the police opening fire on an agitated mob and causing bullet injuries to four, returned to normalcy on Monday. The district administration had ordered judicial probe into the incident, while the services of the local sub-inspector, Abdul Haq and the Mylavaram Circle Inspector U Bangarraju, were placed under suspension. The administration had also provided treatment to the injured in a private hospital in the city.

District Collector Dr Buddha Prakash M Jyothi, Eluru range DIG Vikram Singh Mann, the Krishna district SP, J Prabhakara Rao, Joint Collector P Usha Kumari, Sub-Collector D Harichandana, Nuzvid DSP, A Shankar Reddy and other officials visited the village and hospital where they held talks with the agitators and brought the situation under control. MLA and Telugu Desam Krishna district unit president Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, the TD MP from Machilipatnam, Konakalla Narayana Rao, Pedana legislator and YSR Congress leader, Jogi Ramesh, YSR Congress Krishna district unit president, Samineni Udaya Bhanu, several others also visited the village and the hospital in support of the victims.

It may be mentioned here that Palagani Ramakrishna, an MBA student from the village, was found dead in the neighbouring Guntur district, which led to the incident. The relatives and parents of Ramakrishna held a protest at the police station with the body of the youth and attacked the sub-inspector Abdul Haq and constable Sambasiva Rao, holding them responsible for the death of the youth. On learning about the attack on the police station, Mylavaram CI Bangarraju reached the station and opened fire at the agitating crowd causing bullet injuries to four, further complicating the situation.

It all started with Ramakrishna leaving the village on July 28 telling the parents that he was going to Chennai to find a job. He packed some utensils for cooking too, besides clothes. On the same day, a woman of two children, was also found missing and her husband lodged a complaint with the police suspecting the hand of Ramakrishna behind disappearance of his wife. The G Konduru police booked a case on July 29 and started investigation.

Meanwhile, the police from Chodamangalam in Tamilnadu informed the G Kondur police that they have caught a couple moving suspiciously and trying to purchase sleeping pills from a medical store. The G Konduru police left for Chodamangalam along with a relative of the woman and have returned on July 2 with the woman. The police said that they have traced the woman and Ramakrishna in Tamilnadu but brought only the woman, leaving him there.

However, the Tadepalli police in Guntur district found a dead body on July 4 and after two days of investigation they found that the deceased was Ramakrishna. The Tadepalli police have alerted Ramakrishna's parents on July 7 following which the parents visited the government hospital at Mangalagiri and identified the body. After post mortem, the body was taken to G Kondur police station where they held the protest and attacked the police holding them responsible for the death.

The relatives alleged that the family members of the woman have killed Ramakrishna with the connivance of the police. However, the police denied to have brought Ramakrishna along with the woman from Tamilnadu raising several doubts over the death of the youth. However, Krishna district SP Prabhakara Rao told media persons that they have preliminary information that Ramakrishna wanted to commit suicide and had sent an sms to one of his friends. The police said that they were investigating into this angle too, but asserted that they would take action against the police if proved guilty.

Ramakrishna's father, Palagani Prabhakara Rao, told the media that the police and the relatives of the woman were responsible for the death of his son. He blamed the police for opening fire and injuring people when they were protesting. The CI, Bangarraju, who fled the scene after firing, was admitted in the Government General Hospital in the city. It is said that he had received a bleeding injury to his hand and is being treated in the hospital.

Meanwhile, the District Collector said that the government would meet the medical expenses for the injured. A team of four expert doctors from Hyderabad were also reaching the city to help the local doctors in providing quality treatment to the injured, he added.
