Gampalagudem(Krishna dist.): Telugu Desam president and former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday asked Telugu people to end the 135-year-old history of the Congress by defeating the party in ensuing elections.
Addressing an impressive gathering during his ‘Telugu Prajala Aatma Gowrava Yatra’, he wanted Telugus to strongly oppose the ‘corrupt’ and ‘inefficient’ Congress which is responsible for the State’s political unrest.
Naidu claimed that several successful industrialists and efficient officers were now in jail following ‘highest-ever corruption promoted by the Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy regime’. He quipped that whenever he saw YSR’s statue he was reminded of the corruption, involving alleged collection of crores.
“When I was at the helm, people used to remember information technology and development. But, today they remember corruption,” he said. “Valmiki wrote Ramayana, while Vyasa Maharshi penned Mahabaratha. It is now time for the Telugu people to write off the Congress from the State,” Naidu urged the gathering. He said the Telugu Desam always stood for State’s development and worked for the Telugu pride.
He took a dig at the Congress leaders for dividing the State without addressing the problems of the Seemandhra people, ‘who were fighting for their rights’. He regretted that the Centre was not responding to the agitation.
Naidu asked the people to decide whether they wanted the State to suffer by voting for the Congress or wanted development by supporting TDP.
