Hyderabad: Two thiefs who stole an antique diamond and ruby- studded solid gold lunch box worth over 2 million pounds from the Nizam Museum in Hyderabad on September 2nd 2018.

The gold tiffin box of the Nizam V11, Mir Osman Ali Khan, may have been in the Nizams museum , but its sheen is missing. The three tier gold tiffin box has been on public display at t he Nizam's Museum in
Hyderabad's Purani Haveli since its recovery by the police from two thieves in September.

The thieves, who stole the diamond- studded gold box, removed the diamonds and other precious stones inlaid into the invaluable artecraft in a bid to sell them seperately.

They however did not meddle with the gold cup and saucer. which were also stolen in the Nmidnight heist on September 2.

The police recovered all the stolen objects, including the detatched diamonds Heritage activitists demand that the diamonds should be reattached by hiring experts involved in conservation of antique objects.

One cannot just fix the diamonds to the gold box of the Nizam. It has an
intricate work in gold and only expert goldsmiths can attatch the diamonds. said INTACH city convener P Anuradha Reddy, adding that the unique object without the sheen has lost its originality.
