Around 50 people were feared drowned as a ferry in which they were travelling sank in Vana river near Singan Ghat in Wardha district in Maharashra on Thursday.

Most of the missing were said to be labourers going to their work place. Reports reaching here said that the district officials rushed to the spot and launched search and rescue operations. Two bodies were retrieved when the last reports came in. It is observed that the ferry was carrying more people beyond its capacity.
