New Delhi: AICC general secretary in-charge of Andhra Pradesh Digvijay Singh on Wednesday rejected the demand for keeping Andhra Pradesh united. All the political parties had taken a decision on division of Andhra Pradesh and creation of Telangana. In fact, the Congress was the last to take a decision, he pointed out. If some parties go back on their commitment in favour Telangana, then the Congress could not be blamed for it, he said. Digvijay Singh signalled that there was no going back on the decision on Telangana.
Digvijay Singh’s assertion assumes significance, as it comes after the Seemandhra leaders made it clear to Antony Committee that nothing short of united Andhra Pradesh will work. Digvijay Singh has made it very clear that the Congress High Command cannot countenance any opposition to the decision taken by the Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Telangana. On the Twitter, Digvijay Singh said, “Strongly appeal to all Seemandhra NGOs and all involved in counselling of students admission in AP to facilitate counselling process.” Later, Digvijay Singh told media persons that it was unjust and unfair, as it affected the future of thousands of students at large.
Referring to his tweet, Digvijay Singh he fervently hoped that the NGOs would rethink as the counselling concerns the future of the students. The State Government was ready to hear and address their concerns, he said. As far as the Congress decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh was concerned, Digvijay Singh asserted that a lot of discussions preceded the decision.
