New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Tuesday assured the APNGOs that injustice would not be done to Seemandhra. While he said he could not interfere with the Congress Working Committee (CWC) decision, he said every effort would be done to ensure justice to Seemandhra. “When the committee is set up, it will address all the concerns of the people of Seemandhra region, he said.

On all related issues, the committee will elicit views from the leaders of Seemandhra region. In the light of the findings, the government will proceed in the matter,” he said. After meeting the Prime Minister, APNGOs president Ashok Babu said during their meeting, the APNGOs delegation explained to him the explosive situation in the Seemandhra region. Grave injustice had been done, as the decision was taken without consulting the stakeholders and without drawing up the necessary blueprint on how to go about in the matter. Ashok Babu said that they were in the process of meeting as many political leaders as possible.

The APNGOs met leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley, CPM politburo member Sitaram Yechury and several leaders of other political parties. The idea was to impress upon the political parties the need to mount pressure on the ruling Congress to reverse its decision on bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, at least till such time as peace returns and the entire issue was evaluated in a calm atmosphere.

After completing the round of meetings on Tuesday, the APNGOs will take a call on Wednesday on whether or not to meet Antony Committee. Ashok Babu also urged the various leaders of different political parties to attend the meeting organized by the APNGOs in Hyderabad on September 7 to make it a big success. Since the meeting was to Save Andhra Pradesh, the APNGOs had extended the invitation to all the leaders of various political parties to attend their meeting in Hyderabad on September 7
