Chennai/Mumbai (Agencies): Non-bailable warrants (NBWs) were issued by courts on Thursday against two cine actresses Anjali and Preity Zinta. An NBW was issued against Actress Anjali by the Saidapet Court in Chennai on Thursday following the failure of the actress to show up before the judge eight times in a row in the defamation case of director Kalanjiyam. The director has filed the defamation case against her following her statement to the media against her aunt Bharati Devi and the director.

The actress went into hiding initially but later came out and started attending shootings regularly. The court took this seriously and slapped the warrant against her. She was also scheduled to attend the director Kalanjiyam's own shooting but she completely avoided the same. The scene looks grimmer now and needs to see how the actress will come clean. She is abroad, shooting for a film at present.

Mumbai metropolitan magistrate's court at Andheri issued an NBW against Bollywood actress Preity Zinta in connection with a cheque bouncing case. Scriptwriter Abbas Tyrewala had filed a complaint after a cheque issued by the actress for Rs 18 lakh bounced. She had been asked to appear before the court four times but failed to appear. Preity Zinta was last seen in 'Ishkq In Paris' which was directed by Prem Raj.
