Thiruvalluvar And His Legendary Poetic Work.
Valluvar, the saint-poet is commonly known as Thiruvalluvar. Around two thousand years ago, Thiruvalluvar was born in Tirunayanarkurichi in the erstwhile Valluva Nadu and not in Mylapore, Madras (now Chennai) or Madurai, the fact was endorsed by the recent field research undertaken by The Kanyakumari Historical and Cultural Research Centre. People from Tamilnadu, Pondicherry, Srilanka and other parts of the world celebrate the birth anniversary of the saint-poet Thiruvalluvar as ‘Thiruvalluvar Day’ on the fourth day of the four day ‘Pongal’ festival.
This year, ‘Thiruvalluvar Day’ falls on Tuesday, the 15th January 2013.
The saint-poet’s legendary poetic work ‘Thirukkural’ is considered as one of the best books in Tamil Literature. The book is the masterly feat of Tamil Literature with the brilliant and purest expression of human thoughts. Thirukkural is written in the form of couplets developing various aspects of life.
The supreme value of Kural is its entire moral content. The scripture is classified into three books and these are Virtue, Wealth and Love consisting 1330 couplets divided into 133 chapters.
In the great poetic work, people can find the saint-poet as moral philosopher, master of public administration and a creative artist, showing the attractive aspects of lovers. Thirukkural eternal life and absoluteness are indisputable.
It has been translated into over 60 languages of the world. In the range of theme and pithiness of the couplets, Thirukkuralshines the other edifying literature of the World.
Thiruvalluvar is looked upon as an ‘Avatara of Brahma. Vasuki, his wife was an innocent, loyal lady and an ideal wife. She never defied the orders of her husband. Vasuki carried them out absolutely. The saint-poet proved that a man could leaf his life of a householder along with living a divine life or a life of sacredness.
He also told that people don’t need to leave their family and turn them into monk to lead a divine life of sanctity. All his brilliant quotes and his thoughts are now in book form as ‘Thirukkural’. It is the finest feat of Tamil Literature.
She promptly left the rope and ran to his husband with a fan to cool the rice without asking her husband a single word as “how can the cold rice be hot”? “Why do you need a fan”? Vasuki purely complied with his instructions. On the other, the vessel that contained water was hanging in a half way in the well unsupported and this was just because of her ‘Pativrata Shakti’. This piece of lofty demeanor of Vasuki was simply struck with high regard.
Thiruvalluvar was also the philosopher of Tamilnadu. His brilliant poetic work made him to identify as one of the greatest philosophers, in the world. It is said that Thirukkural is a study par excellence on the art of living.
Thiruvalluvar, the person behind, established the difficulties of human nature with such infiltrating insight, ideal mastery and complete skill captivating the finest thoughts of love and modern psychology, that one is left speculating at his sweep and depth. The saint-poet is the one who gave ‘Vedha’ for universal part of human nature.
