Just one day after Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha’s assuming the post of Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Arun Purushottam Garud VM took over as Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Air Command (SAC) on Wednesday. In a prestigious ceremony of handing over-taking over of command, traditional guard of honour was given by air warriors to him at the SAC headquarters at Trivandrum in Kerala.

Before assuming the portfolio, Air Marshal Garud has been the Senior Air Staff Officer at the Training Command Headquarters. It’s worth mentioning here that of the total seven air commands of IAF, Southern Air Command is poised for major operational inductions and associated infrastructure developments. Air Marshal A.P. Garud was commissioned in the helicopter stream of the IAF in 1976. He held various coveted position in IAF.
