Mumbai: Even though he was in jail for nearly 12 years after being extradited from Portugal in 2002, the notorious thug Abu Salem's personal life has not been affected - rather it is on the upswing and his love for excitement remains flowing.
On his way to Lucknow for a court appearance, in a filmy style, the gangster tied the nuptial knot with latest love of his life, a woman from Mumbra (Mumbai), on a running train. The so called 'nikah' was read by a kazi in Mumbai over the phone and witness to the wedding was his nephew Rashid and two sets of amused policemen - one from Mumbai and the other from Lucknow. It was rather a high tech nikah that went inside a movingtrain.
As far as the girl with whom Abul Salem tied the nuptial knot is concerned, only a little is known about her. She is aged about 27yrs and has been seen at TADA court at several instances. However, it is learnt that the woman now controls the entire business interests, the gangster has in Mumbai.
Of late the news made the rounds in the media circles on Wednesday, though the train wedding took place on January 8 when Salem was taken to Lucknow to appear in a case connected with one of the fake passports he was in possession of at the time of the banishment.
As far as Salem’s life is concerned, he for all time led a colourful life. He was last married (if it is so) to Bollywood actress Monica Bedi, who too was extradited from Portugal along with him. Bedi has, however, maintained that she was never married to him.
The question here is why Salem opted to tie the knot in a moving train, when there was a chance for him to seek permission from the court for the same. One of Salem's lawyers said the woman met him during court hearings, which she used to be present at consistently.
