Interim Budget 2014-15: More Allocations For National Defence. The union Finance Minister P Chidambaram presented an interim budget for the coming fiscal year on Monday.

Dr. Suman K KasturiNew Delhi: The union Finance Minister P Chidambaram presented an interim budget for the coming fiscal year on Monday. He sought Parliament's approval for expenditure through vote-on-account, which will allow the government to cover its expenditure beyond the current fiscal. He spoke on the achievements of the UPA government during last five years and beyond that.

Allocation for the Defence Ministry has been increased in this budget to Rs 224000 CR, which is the need of the hour due to the ongoing cross border terrorism and looming threat from China.

Allocation increased for food subsidy to enable roll out of the Food Security Act. Rs 500 CR will be transferred for 2014-15 for implementing the 'one rank one pay' decision, which is the long pending demand from veterans of tri services.
