Amritsar Golden Temple Clashes Between Groups. In shocking turn of events, the famous Sikh pilgrim hotspot witnessed unrest when there was a clash between Shiromani Akali Dal and security personnel in the temple premises.
It is learnt that 12 people have been injured during the clashes.
Latest repots coming in suggest that two groups brandishing swords and lathis got into a scuffle on Friday morning. According to reliable sources, there was an altercation during a ceremony that was being held to mark the anniversary of Operation Bluestar.
According to a news report, the clashes happened after Akali Dal's Simranjit Singh Mann's request to address the devotees was turned down by Akal Takth Jathedar. The supporters of the Akali Dal got into a scuffle holding lathis and swords with Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) task force members.
The situation is said to be under control now. Security has been tightened and devotees and tourists are having a tough time gaining an entry into the Golden Temple.
