Emerging from the meeting with Union Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Kavitha said turmeric has to be treated on a separate footing. No research has been done on turmeric.
If Turmeric Board is set up, it would get the focus it deserves and it will help greatly, she said. The demand for Turmeric Board is on the lines of Coffee Board and Tea Board. Kavita has also sought increasing the minimum support price (MSP) of turme-ric to Rs 15,000 per quintal. This latest initiative of Kavita is in keeping with her drive to implement the Nizamabad Manifesto, which she had In Telangana, Kavita also sought the setting up of Skill Development Centres. It will help the youth to acquire skills and develop their opportunities for getting jobs or for their own self-employment.
