Unidentified persons have beaten another Manipuri to death in the national capital. A 30-year-old Shaloni who was returning home after a shift at BPO, was allegedly trampled to death during a scuffle with a car-borne men around 2.30am.Police rushed Shaloni to AIIMS who was declared dead on arrival. The police registered FIR and looking for the culprits. The body is kept at AIIMS for the post-mortem.
The BezBaruah committee submitted its report last week recommending stricter laws for such regional hate crimes. It recommended monitoring of social media and creating consciousness of such issues through such platforms. However, the report also seeks the students from the Northeast to adjust to the metro cities. It also called upon Bollywood to use its reach and influence to bring down discrimination against the North eastern people. The report requests the help of Development of north east region Ministry to consider an appropriate plan of incentives for encouraging the use of North-Eastern citizens in Bollywood movies.
Government setup the committee in February 2014 to look into the various concerns of people hailing from the North Eastern States who are living in diverse parts of the country, and suggest suitable remedies.
