Guwahati: At least 19 people including three children were killed in different places of Assam and Meghalaya as floods and landslides played havoc situation in the two states following by incessant rains from two days. More than 3 lakh people were affected in the fresh flood waves in the two states. Seven people were killed in Assam’s Goalpara and Kamrup district including three in Guwahati city in fress floods and landslides on Monday.

Assam state government and district administration of Goalpara and Kamrup had sounded alert after Met department forecasted more heavy rain in the next 48 hours. Flood water washed away three people in Goalpara and Kamrup district, while three people were killed in heavy floods and landslides in Guwahati city.

Guwahati city administration had ordered to closure all government and private educational institutions till further notice for the flood situation. Flood waters of Bharalu river had submerged several areas in Guwahati city following incessant rains. Water level of tributaries of Brahmaputra river have been flow over danger level mark in Goalpara, Kamrup, Barpeta, Dhubri district.

In Meghalaya, seven persons including five children were killed in South West Garo Hills district while five others died in North Garo Hills district, official sources said.
