Chennai: Tamil Nadu strongman G.K. Vasan launched a new party on Monday shortly after quitting the Congress.

"I am happy that today we have floated a new party in the interest of our cadres and people of Tamil Nadu. This party will definitely fulfill the mission of our late leader K. Kamaraj," said Vasan.

"I am thankful to the Congress leadership for giving us various positions in the party for the last fourteen years. But unfortunately, the cadres and leaders with us are not satisfied with the approach and the way of functioning to achieve the goal. So, we readily thought that a new way, a new path can be given to the cadres and they can achieve their goal," he added.

Vasan further said he is confident that the new party will win the confidence of people at the earliest.

B.S. Gnanadesikan, a loyalist of Vasan, had earlier last week tendered his resignation as the Tamil Nadu Congress chief. He had accused the Congress leadership in Delhi of failing to consult the state branch on important issues.
