The Central Public Works Department has issued a notice to former union minister K Chiranjeevi asking him to vacate the official bungalow. This was alloted to him when was the union minister. The notice is dated 31 October and pasted at the entrance of 17, Akbar Rao with instructions to get out of the Type-VIII bungalow immediately as he is no more a minister.
If Chiranjeevi fails to vacate, he would be forcibly evicted from the bungalow.
Chiranjeevi termed the eviction notice unfair. He said he was ready to vacate bit need a decent living space.
Earlier, Chiru was apparently allotted the 5-Tughlaq road place. However, the MP says that the house is not in habitable condition.
"There is no electricity and other facilities at 5 Tughlaq Road. It's in a dilapidated condition. How could I go there now?" he told PTI.
The actor-turned-politician said that eviction notice would have been justified if he was hanging onto the present house, which was not the case. "I am ready to go. But I have only asked them to allot me an alternative, desirable house in livable condition," he added.
He also claimed that only he and the former Defence Minister A K Antony had been asked to move out while other former UPA Ministers continue to stay in the same bungalows.
"It's negligence of the Urban Development ministry. It's unfair. I don't know about (if there is) pressure to allot my present bungalow to someone else. If they force me to leave, I am helpless," he told.
Following the expansion of union cabinet, eviction notices would be issued to former UPA ministers including Chiranjeevi, Vyalar Ravi and Rajiv Shukla who are yet to vacate their official bungalows, official sources said in New Delhi earlier today.
