Odisha presents Rs.84,487 crore budget for 2015-16.The Odisha government Monday presented a Rs.84,487.77 crore budget for 2015-16 with focus on infrastructure growth, social welfare schemes and agriculture sector in the state.

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government Monday presented a Rs.84,487.77 crore budget for 2015-16 with focus on infrastructure growth, social welfare schemes and agriculture sector in the state.

The government also presented a separate agriculture budget of Rs.10,903.62 crore.

"The total expenditure proposed in the budget for 2015-16 is Rs.84,487.77 crore. While planning expenditure has been proposed at Rs.40,531.46 crore, the non-plan expenditure is Rs.43,956.32 crore," said Finance Minister Pradip Kumar Amat in his budget speech in the assembly amid an uproar by opposition members.

The plan outlay has been proposed at Rs.44,150 crore including a Rs.40,150 crore allocation for the government sector while Rs.4,000 crore have been earmarked for the general enterprises, said the minister.

Stating that the budgeted expenditure would be financed through estimated revenue receipts of Rs.70,940.50 crore, recovery of loans, borrowing and other receipts, Amat said revenue surplus would be Rs.5,101.51 crore.

The fiscal deficit is projected at Rs 10,400.28 crore, the minister said.

The school and mass education department has received the largest allocation of Rs.9,979.49 crores while Rs.1,402.99 crore has been proposed to provide Re.1 a kg rice to the poor people in the state.

The budget has proposed Rs.229 crore under Swachh Bharat Mission in urban areas, while the government has decided to spend Rs.540 crore in Maoist-affected districts from additional central assistance.
